Below is an overview of the latest RRB Group D Level-1 exam pattern, selection process, and marking scheme.
RRB Group D Selection Process 2025
The RRB Group D 2025 examination will be conducted as a Computer-Based Test (CBT). The Railway Administration holds the authority to organize the CBT either in a single stage or multiple stages. Candidates who pass the CBT will be required to take a Physical Efficiency Test (PET), followed by Document Verification and a Medical Examination.
The recruitment process will involve the following stages of examination:
1. Computer Based Test (CBT-1)
2. Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
3. Document Verification and Medical
RRB Group D Level-1 Exam Pattern 2025 (CBT-1)
Candidates' performance in the Computer-Based Test (CBT) will determine their eligibility for the Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and Document Verification process. The duration of the exam and the number of questions for the CBT are outlined below:

Points to be noted
(i) For eligible PwBD candidates using a scribe, the exam duration will be 120 minutes.
(ii) The section-wise distribution mentioned above is indicative and may vary in the actual question paper. Negative marking will apply, with 1/3 marks deducted for each incorrect answer.
(iii) The minimum qualifying marks for different categories are as follows: UR-40%, EWS-40%, OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)-30%, SC-30%, and ST-30%. These percentages may be relaxed by 2% for PwBD candidates if there is a shortage of eligible candidates for reserved vacancies.
(iv) If a second stage CBT is introduced, the Railway Administration may use the first stage CBT as a qualifying exam to shortlist a suitable number of candidates for the second stage.
Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
Candidates will be shortlisted for the PET based on their performance in the CBT 1 exam. Typically, three times the community-wise total vacancies for the posts notified under RRBs/RRCs will be called for the PET. However, the Railways reserve the right to modify this ratio to ensure an adequate number of candidates are available for all notified posts. Qualifying the Physical Efficiency Test (PET) is compulsory, and it will be conducted on a qualifying basis. The criteria for the PET are as follows:
Physical Requirement
(i) Men
Weight Lifting and Carrying: Must lift and carry a weight of 35 kg for a distance of 100 meters within 2 minutes in a single attempt without putting the weight down.
Running: Must run a distance of 1000 meters within 4 minutes and 15 seconds in a single attempt.
(ii) Female
Weight Lifting and Carrying: Must lift and carry a weight of 20 kg for a distance of 100 meters within 2 minutes in a single attempt without putting the weight down.
Running: Must run a distance of 1000 meters within 5 minutes and 40 seconds in a single attempt.
Document Verification and Final Selection
Calling for Document Verification (DV):
Candidates will be shortlisted for DV based on their performance in CBT and qualification in PET.
Twice the number of vacancies will be called for DV, according to merit and preferences.
Empanelment of Additional Candidates:
Extra candidates may be considered for selection only if there is a shortfall in joining or special requirements arise.
Tie-Breaking Criteria:
If two or more candidates have the same marks, the older candidate will get higher merit.
If the age is also the same, the alphabetical order of names (A to Z) will be used to decide.
Medical Fitness and Verification:
Final selection depends on passing a Medical Fitness Test conducted by the Railway Administration.
Educational qualifications, community certificates, and character/antecedents will also be verified.
Additional Candidates in Medical Tests:
Extra candidates sent for medical tests after DV will not have any automatic claim to appointment, even if they clear the tests.
Final Appointment:
RRBs/RRCs only recommend candidates for selection. The actual appointment is offered by the respective Railway Administration.
