Selection Process & Stages

Selection is solely based on performance in the Computer-based Test (CBT).
No interview, group discussion, or additional stage conducted by NTA.
For JRF, merit is subject-wise and category-wise; for Assistant Professor, qualifying mark suffices.

Important Instructions to Avoid Form Rejection

  • Apply only once; multiple applications may be rejected.

Result & Merit List Process

  • Result will be declared online at the official NTA UGC NET portal.
  • JRF and Assistant Professor merit lists are prepared separately for each subject and category.
  • Qualifying in NET does not guarantee a job; it provides eligibility for Assistant Professor/JRF/PhD admission.

Admit Card Download Instructions

  • Admit card will be available from 15 June 2026.
  • Download via login at ugcnet.ntaonline.in using application number and password.
  • Verify all details (name, exam date, city/center, photo).

Physical / Skill / Document Test Requirements

No physical or skill test is conducted as part of the NTA UGC NET selection process. Candidates must, however, ensure validity and accuracy of uploaded documents as universities may verify eligibility during admission/recruitment.

  • NTA UGC NET June 2026 is conducted for eligibility as Assistant Professor, Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), and PhD admission in Indian universities/colleges.
  • Exam is held in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode for 87 subjects (including Statistics & Forestry which are new additions in June 2026 cycle).

Salary / Pay Scale Details (JRF & Assistant Professor)

  • JRF Stipend (Fellowship): Rs. 37,000/- per month (first 2 years), then Rs. 42,000/- per month (as per guidelines; may vary with new notifications).
  • Assistant Professor: Pay level as per UGC norms (typically entry at Academic Pay Level 10; varies per university).

Application Correction / Edit Window Process

The correction window was available from 22–27 May 2026 for editing mistake(s) in select fields.
Fields like candidate's name, parents' names, date of birth, social category, subject and exam city, and uploaded images must be double-checked as errors may not be corrected after closure of the window.

  • Login at ugcnet.ntaonline.in during window dates.
  • Edit permissible fields, upload fresh photos/sign if needed, then save and print updated confirmation.

Photo & Signature Upload Guidelines

  • Photo: Color, recent, clear, full face, white background, size 10–200 KB (JPG/JPEG).
  • Signature: Black/blue ink on white paper, size 4–30 KB (JPG/JPEG).
  • Only JPG/JPEG format accepted.
  • Editing or manipulating the image is NOT allowed.
  • Use the Image Resizer Tool to get perfect dimensions and file size.

  • Scanned recent passport-size photograph (10 KB–200 KB, JPG/JPEG)
  • Scanned signature (4 KB–30 KB, JPG/JPEG)
  • Master's degree marksheet/degree certificate

  1. Visit ugcnet.nta.ac.in or directly go to ugcnet.ntaonline.in.
  2. Click on the UGC NET June 2026 Application link.
  3. Register using a valid Email ID and Mobile Number (or via MeriPehchaan with Aadhaar, PAN, DigiLocker).
  4. Fill all required details in the application form — name, parents' names, category, subject, exam city, etc.
  5. Upload scanned photograph and signature as per specifications.
  6. Pay the applicable fee using UPI/Net Banking/Credit or Debit card.
  7. Download and print the Confirmation Page for future reference.
